... Josanica Monastery ... There is no written documents about the time the monastery was built. Although many resources are noting that the church is built in the 17th century, there is indications that the church was built much earlier, at the time of Prince Lazar's rule in this area (1371-1389). (Source: "Manastir Josanica" by Dusan Dacic, rector of St. Sava Theology University in Belgrade, 1979). The first written document comes from the time of the first renovation of the church, after much damage, in 1786.
The monastery is located around 10km west of Jagodina near Black Peak Mountain (Crni Vrh in Serbian) on Josanica river.
