Excerpt from an Interview with Architect
Daniel Liebeskind by host Gabe Pressman, for
WNBC.
Mr. LIEBESKIND: Well, you know, after going
to the Bronx High School science, my interests widened. I became interested in
mathematics and--and in structure, and then--and then I was always interested in
the arts--in--in painting and drawing and--and somehow music was always part of
it, so I never thought I gave music up, but I still incorporated it into the
harmonies which--which--which, of course, architecture also possesses.
PRESSMAN: And they are related--music and--and architecture, in your mind?
Mr. LIEBESKIND: Oh, absolutely, but even acoustically. Every space has a certain
sound. We know--we usually concentrate on the visual notion of architecture,
but our sense of balance is in the ear. So architecture, you know, has very
